Chinatown Cultural Center coming along

Here’s an excerpt from a recent update from Alice Leung, Start-Up Manager of the new Chinatown Cultural Center. Alice is looking for help on several fronts as she prepares for a soft-launch of the Center in early 2012:

Dear Friends and Supporters of the Chinatown Cultural Center,

…In the past few months, we have had many great volunteers help set up the space and prepare exciting programs and events. The Chinatown Cultural Center (CCC) has also been very fortunate to receive many generous donations from supporters and donors….As we continue to fill the Reading Room with wonderful books, activities and resources, I’d like to make an ask through a New Year Wish List to turn our Children’s Corner into a more fun, stimulating and inviting space to promote reading and learning. With some great advice from a retired teacher, here is a list I’ve assembled.

New Year Wish List
*CD players with headphones
*Puppets and stuff animals (new or lightly used)
*Children’s activities/homework table with chairs

Additionally, for our adult space would appreciate donations of:

*Lounge chairs for reading (new or lightly used)
*Laptops (under 5 yrs old)

Chinatown Cultural Center Naming Competition
The Chinatown Cultural Center Committee is seeking English & Chinese name submissions for the CCC. The winner(s) will be announced during our public opening ceremony in early 2012 and receive a $25 gift card. Please see the attached flyer for more information. We look forward to receiving your great ideas! (CCC naming competition flyer)

Best,

Alice Leung
